What is Accounting?

Get a Master's in Accounting

The Accounting B.S.

Accounting is the systematic process of recording, analyzing and reporting financial transactions.

Accurate financial records, such as income, expenses, assets and liabilities, are essential for understanding a business's financial health. These records inform financial statements, supporting decision-making by management, investors, regulators and other stakeholders, and ensuring legal compliance.

An accounting degree offers a strong foundation in financial management, strategic planning and analytical skills, essential for effective leadership. It’s no wonder that many top executives and successful entrepreneurs have accounting backgrounds.

As the global economy blends accounting practices, careers in accounting have broadened. At Florida Tech, students prepare for accounting careers in the wider business world and for graduate programs in accountancy, business and law.
